Back and Forth

Don't you love it when you finally finish up a project that you have been working on for way too long? Cuz, I know I do! I finally finished the rocking chair that I started refurbishing a couple of summers ago. I would've had it done much much sooner but, since I have NO experience in reupholstering, I was a little bit stumped about how to finish the back of the chair. Lucky for me I have a genius dad who, while I was talking to him about it a few weeks ago, suggested I buy a small cutting mat to use as the backing because it would be flexible enough to mold to the chair but it would also be strong enough to offer some good support. Genius!! So, now its done. Hurray! I quite like how it turned out. Its not perfect, it has character! :)

Summer Is Here!

And with summer comes......guns?
I went, with my parents, today on a fun ride up Fish Creek road and up into the Targee National Forest. So pretty and refreshing! Dad brought a couple guns along and we had fun shooting them for a bit.

Check out mom getting into it! :) She was awesome! And totally hit the target multiple times. To any burglars out there....Watch out!

Happy Day! :)

A taste of my December

We went to Moscow for Dougs graduation. What a fun time! They have a stake there that puts together a Nativity display in one of the church buildings. Everyone and anyone is invited. They have nativities, from all over the world, that are spred throughout the whole buiding. AND, in one of the rooms they had a photo-booth and a photogragher taking pictures of anyone who wanted to dress up and have their picture taken in a live nativity. How, amazingly fun is that! Here are our results:

All awesomeness aside! The whole building, set up with nativities, was really touching and sweet to walk through. What a great and inspired idea that was, to help bring the christmas spirit.

Summer: In Memoriam

I miss summer.......

But, I shouldn't complain; I just had a really great week in California soaking up the sun. I will post about that soon.

Up, Up, and Away!!

Yesterday was a great day! Can you guess what I got to do? Here I'll give you a hint...

Getting all buckled up, and getting the low-down on the head phones.....

And we're off.....

AND... Guess who else got up the nerve to take a spin around the sky! That's right mom did! And, she loved it.

Mom and I were lucky enough to have this little adventure because Dad works with Richard Plant who owns this awesome aircraft. Dad has been up a few times already and really loves it. I'm glad Mom and I finally got on board (I just realized that is an awesome pun) so we could see what all the hub-bub was about.
I didn't really know what to expect. I had a rush of nerves at first just thinking about what I had agreed to, and then I just relaxed and decided I was going to enjoy myself. I loved it! Everything about it was awesome! It was the smoothest most relaxing ride ever. I don't remember my heart even taking one extra beat, that's how relaxed and safe I felt. And, if Mom can do it and say she loved it, then, seriously, anyone can do it. :)
To round off an already awesome day (I mean seriously, isn't flying enough awesomeness for more than one day?) we went up huckleberry picking. That is always fun and always worth the effort.
While driving up through the mountains we just happened to pass some kind of hound dog tracking contest going on. I felt like I had walked straight into Where the Red Fern Grows. It was so neat. As we drove a little further up the road mom jerked her head around and said: "There was a bear! Those dogs treed a bear!!" Dad threw the truck in reverse and drove back to see. Sure enough three hounds were going crazy at the base of a big tree with a black bear in it. Unfortunately, the bear was already dead and we soon realized that was the whole point of the contest. But, it sure was neat to see anyway.
Isn't it interesting how long you can go without experiencing anything really new or out of the ordinary? Then, just in the course of one totally unplanned day, you can find yourself flying through the sky held up by a parachute, and later look out a window and witness the world of hound dog bear tracking? Some people will never get to say they have done or seen those things.......... :)

Introducing....

Sherlock...

This dazzling hunk of metal will soon be mine. :) And yes, yes I have already named this shiny upgrade. I think Sherlock is fitting because this car is going to solve some of my problems. Hmmm.....Name subject to change depending on aforementioned problem solving abilities of car.....:)
