A few quotes that have made me smile of late:

Mom: "Does that medicine taste like berries?"
Amberlee: ".... no"
Mom: "Like bubble gum?"
Amberlee: "....no"
Mom: "...Like peaches?"
Amberlee"... No!"
Mom: What does it taste like?"
Amberlee: "... Bad"
Mom: "It tastes bad?"
Amberlee: "ya, like garbage"
...

Me: "I really have to go to class now"
Amberlee: "Okay... Goo, drive safe...watch out for deer"
...

So, I started brushing my teeth one night before going to bed. Everyone else was in bed and the lights were out. Instead of staying in the bathroom to brush my teeth I went back to my room to work on a bit of homework while I brushed. I like brushing my teeth for a long time. Anyway, I shut my bedroom door so that the light would not bother Amberlee and Autumn who were in the other room in bed. When I was done brushing I opened my bedroom door to go back to the bathroom. Standing, with her back to me and looking up at the door to Doug and Lydia's room, was Autumn. She startled me because I was not expecting to see her there, and I startled her because she knew she was supposed to be in bed. Her reaction cracked me up and I couldn't suppress my laugh. You would have laughed too if you saw her standing there with a shocked look on her face, trying to brush the hair out of her eyes, and wearing the cutest little pajamas. As I stood there laughing I could see Autumns little mind thinking through what had just happened. After a few seconds she put a hand on her hip, and used the other hand to point an accusing finger at me. Then with a very determined and set face she said "YOU should be in BED!!" I'm glad I didn't choke on my toothpaste from laughing!

Oh- those make me smile! She is such a nut. I took their blankets away two days ago and hid them (I know I am the meanest mom ever- the first night they were sobbing and Amberlee said through her tears, "This is like my worst nightmare!") but it has really cut down on thumb sucking. Anyway, tonight, she said, "Mom- remember that I get my blankie back when I turn eight. That's my baptize gift. Put that on the list."
