Prayer of Saint Francis

Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

This prayer was quoted in a talk given by M. Russell Ballard called The Peaceable Things of the Kingdom. While I am not, myself, very good with words, I feel very keenly the sweet words and desiring of this prayer. I am so grateful to my savior who has made it possible for me to learn and improve and become more than I am, through Him. I am grateful to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I am grateful for the peace and the strength it gives me, and for the deep pure joy that comes from living the way the Lord would have me live. www.mormon.org
